If this is your first time joining us, here are some things you might like to know:
Worship begins at 9:30 am preceded by ten minutes of prelude music. A time of conversation and fellowship follows the service. Christian Education classes for all ages begin at 11:00 am (September-May).
Parking: Our parking lot is located at the corner of Broadway Place and Oakland Park Avenue. Broadway Place is a one-way street running north from East North Broadway to Oakland Park Avenue. On Sunday mornings, parking is also available in the adjacent business lots to the west of our lot, as well as along Broadway Place and Oakland Park Avenue.
Accessibility: Handicap accessible parking is located in our lot. A ramp leads from those spaces to the front door. An elevator is located in the foyer and can be used to access the basement, second and third levels of the building. Accessible restrooms are located off the foyer and a family/accessible bathroom is also located in the basement. Large print bulletins are available from the greeters. Large print hymnals can be found just inside the sanctuary doors, on the table on the right. Assistive hearing devices are also located on this table. Individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing who would like to have an interpreter present during the service, please contact us in advance so that we can make the necessary arrangements.
Greeting: Upon entering the building you will be welcomed, given a bulletin, and assisted with any questions you may have. On the first Sunday of the month, we wear name tags.
Young children: We have nursery and toddler care (0 – 2 years old) during the worship service, with at least two adults present with each age group. There is a children’s time during the worship service after which preschoolers (ages 3 to those not yet in kindergarten) are dismissed for play. School age children remain in the sanctuary throughout worship. During the Christian Education hour childcare for nursery through two years of age is provided.
Cookie Sunday: The first Sunday of every month we have cookies and refreshments in the fellowship hall between worship and Christian Education. It’s a good time to get to know people while eating good treats.
Following up: All in attendance are invited to sign the welcome registers passed during the service. If you include your address we’ll send you a welcome letter and if you keep showing up we’ll be in touch about connecting you with the congregation.
Inquirers class: Each fall, the pastor leads a Sunday school class for adults interested in learning more about the congregation and Christian faith in an Anabaptist perspective.
And finally a word about dress….although we love our distant cousins the Amish, we don’t dress like them. Attire is generally casual to business casual.
